This flying cycle, built by a group of Japanese students can fly just by pedaling

In a remarkable feat, Fusha Sakai has brought the dream of individual humans flying, closer to reality.

He has created a unique aircraft that operates like a bicycle.

Fusha Sakai is an active member of Japan's Osaka Public University's Sakai Windmill Association, a student-led group dedicated to constructing and flying human-powered airplanes.

The club designs, manufactures, and pilots its aircraft and competes in the Birdman Contest to set impressive records. Since their debut in 1994, they have participated in over 20 flights, securing victory six times across two categories.

The Sakai Windmill Association showcases the passion and skill of students committed to pushing the boundaries of human-powered flight.

Shared on social platform X by Massimo, the video showcases a person pedalling on a strange aircraft with wings and a large rotating fan.

"Fusha Sakai has created this flying bicycle, an authentic manned aircraft that moves by pedalling." the caption of the video on X said.

Since its November 8 debut, the inventive video has accumulated over 5.9 million views and 38,000 likes.

While many praised Sakai's brilliant invention, many raised concerns about fatigue during continuous pedalling.

The flying bicycle presents an innovative approach to manned flights, pushing the boundaries of imagination and engineering.

Last year, on Birdman Contest's 45th anniversary, they flew a Human Powered Propeller Aircraft Division 7th Place.

It was a rare low-speed aircraft, however, its aggressively heavy design resulted in part of the aircraft being damaged during the flight.

The experience, which brought tears to the eyes of all the team members, is expected to be put to good use for this year's Birdman contest.

They are expected to compete for the competition again with this sensational human-powered bicycle aircraft.
